Cogiving Update – December 2017

It has been a much more relaxed month for Cogiving during the holiday season, but nevertheless, we have had some very interesting and fun activities take place. Here’s a recap of all that’s been happening with Dojo Cogiving in December, and what’s coming up:

We started off the month with the MPH app project in full swing. A workshop was held by, Andrea Soverini, who is highly involved in the design aspect of the app. The topic for the workshop was, “User Story Mapping,” an interactive technique to identify all the different stakeholders of the app and their roles. This will enable the developers to design the app based on the different needs of each user. It was a fun way for people to learn a new skill while supporting the project at the same time.

Thank you to everyone who participated.

On the 9th and 10th of December, I had a wonderful weekend in West Bali with four other Dojo members. The West Bali weekend trip was organized as a collaboration between Dojo Bali and Five Pillar Foundation. All profits from the trip went straight to Five Pillar Foundation who work to develop the full potential of rural village communities. It was a trip like no other which led us into the unbeaten paths of Bali while experiencing the true essence of the Balinese way of life. Check out this article for a full breakdown of the trip–what we did, the work of Five Pillar Foundation, and for an opportunity to join the next trip.

A new addition to Dojo this month is the Mt. Agung donation box which is located beside the cashier at the café. This is a box for members to donate items to the Mt Agung evacuees, all 70,000 of them who are currently still living in the camps, and in desperate need of our help. The box is emptied at the end of each week with the items being sent to the donations logistics center for the camps at the Kompyang Sudjana Stadium in Denpasar. Thank you to those who have donated, and please keep them coming as every little bit helps.

Last, but not least, we are excited to announce that we will be collaborating with one more social project starting this January. Green-books.org works in building and operating libraries around the Indonesian archipelago with a focus on environmental education. Look out for their inaugural presentation at Dojo in January!

Thank you, to all Dojo members who have donated your valuable time and effort this month. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. As always, if you are interested in getting involved
