The short time that I have spent so far, one thing has become clear to me. Dojo cares about developing a community where entrepreneurs from around the world can connect, collaborate, and chill together. From the time I walked through the doors, I have been encouraged to join one of the many events happening at Dojo every day. One of those happened to be a day trip to Lembongan island, located just off the southeast coast of Bali.
A mix of individuals arrived at Dojo, early on a Saturday morning, ready for a day of snorkeling, surfing, and amazing views. And we all had high hopes that the rainy season wouldn’t dampen our plans too much (pun not really intended).
After a bus ride to Kuta and a short boat trip, we were at Crystal Bay. Being from the midwestern United States, I have never seen anything quite like it. The island is picturesque, serene, and truly breathtaking. We grabbed our snorkeling equipment, and we explored the coral and the colorful fish below the surface.
After about an hour of snorkeling, we were back on the boats, headed to Lembongan island for lunch. Once we were at the restaurant, it was clear that friendships had formed among the group. One of the things that I love best about Dojo is how easy it is to form connections and friendships. You can attend an event, and by the end of it basically have a new group of friends!
We spent the rest of the day exploring the island on scooter. Scooters are pretty essential for getting around back in Bali, so we had a lot of people who were confident riding, and those of us who were less confident rode on the backs of their scooters. Lembongan is filled with stunning views over the beaches out to the ocean.
We finally ended the day at a cliffside bar with a diving board straight into the ocean. Two brave people from the group jumped off the diving board into the ocean. I just watched in horror as they fell about 6 meters into the ocean below.
We ordered some drinks, a few Dojo members flew their drone around the ocean, and we relaxed at the bar for a bit before heading home. A perfect end to a perfect day.
I came to Bali, Indonesia from the United States for a few reasons. I wanted to go on an adventure, I wanted to connect with amazing people, and I want to feel at home all over the world. Dojo has provided me with adventure, connection, and new friends from all corners of the world.
