H: Okay, hi everyone. My name is Hermes Noguera and, um, I’m from the United States. Florida, to be specific and, uh, I am a web designer and I am currently here at Dojo in Bali. It’s the best place to be right now.
(on screen) *Why did you come to Dojo Bali?*
H: So, uh, I showed up to Bali and I really had no plan. I knew I wanted to start something, my own business and a friend of mine e-mailed me, um, a post, about, uh, the Dojo community so I decided to come, come here and check it out and, uh, as soon as I walked in I just kind of knew it was the right environment. I looked around, I saw a lot of people working on their laptops. Uh, I spoke to a lot of people around here, everyone seemed really friendly, uh, so it seemed like to right environment to be.
(on screen) *What did you find at Dojo Bali?*
H: So, what I found in Dojo Bali is that it’s an environment full of freelancers, entrepreneurs, people who, um, started their own business, are into e-commerce, web design, um. Just all sorts of things and, uh, I was kind of looking for my niche. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do and I found that, uh, by talking to people and just, uh, networking around. It just, kind of, opened my, my mind as to, like, different options that I could pursue. Um, I slowly started getting into e-commerce and then, uh, while I was in the middle of that, um, I met some other people that told me that I could get into web design and they asked me if I could build a web design for them and I said sure, why not? So, then, uh, it slowly started coming together and then, uh, I started networking some more and now I build up my portfolio and now I’m freelancing from here.
(on screen) *What is the very best thing about Dojo Bali?*
H: Probably the best thing about Dojo Bali is, uh, the networking aspect. There’s just so many people here from all over the world. Uh, so many interesting people that just give you ideas. Uh, they have so many e-, events as well. Um, every, every day there’s some sort of event, you can go to different classes, you can learn how to do e-commerce, you can learn how to do drop shipping. Uh, there’s, kind of, something for everybody. Um, and there, I even sign up for classes that, you know, might not, um, necessarily be aimed toward what I do but I still go and I still get to learn a lot from that. Um, and the other aspect is, you know, the networking aspect of it as well. You can meet so many people and, um, they just, kind of, um, help you and guide you throughout the way. If you ever run into any problems there’s always somebody nearby who can help you solve them.
(on screen) *What would you say to anyone thinking about coming to Dojo Bali?*
H: So, what I would say to anyone thinking about coming to Dojo Bali is, uh, don’t be afraid to make the first step. I know, uh, it’s an island in the middle of Indonesia. You might be afraid to, uh, just kind of leave home and, and pursue something new but, uh, don’t be afraid. I think, uh, when you get here, uh, you meet people who are in the same boat as you and, uh, everyone here is willing to help each other out. Um, like I said they give you new ideas and they help you try and become better not just in your business but as a person and you get to grow both, um, in your business and in personal growth as well. If there’s anything I’d like to say it’s just, uh, keep an eye out for the (*sings* Dojo Nomad Show). Out.
H: Oh hi. Didn’t see you there (laughter) We-, welcome to the Dojo Nomad Show. My name is Hermes Noguera and I’ll be your host this evening. Ooh (laughter).
